Makenna Rubinstein

MS, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist

Makenna received her master’s degree from Dominican University of California and her bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. Makenna has a background in sensory integration and modulation disorders, emotional regulation, autism spectrum disorder, learning differences, down syndrome, ADHD, and anxiety in children.

Prior to becoming an occupational therapist, Makenna worked as a preschool teacher and as an occupational therapy aide for an Autism and Apraxia clinic in San Diego, and conducted research for the UC Davis MIND institute focusing on autism research. Makenna also founded a Special Olympics Unified Sports Team on San Diego State’s campus and spent time working for the Special Olympics.

Makenna highly values community, meaningful relationships, and inclusion.  She strives to advocate for the well-being of children by promoting inclusivity and accessibility in all aspects of life through play-based intervention and skill development. Makenna specializes in sensory integration, motor skills acquisition, executive function and social skills support, and building independence in ADLs/IADLs.
